The FBI wants you to reboot your router NOW to help destroy a botnet!
If you have an Internet router, the FBI has issued an important notice to consumers to reboot your routers now, to help thwart a massive foreign-based malware attack!
Foreign cyber criminals have compromised an estimated 500,000+ home and office routers and other networked devices globally, the FBI said in a May announcement.
How to help defend yourself from this Malware threat:
- Turn your router off, then back on. We know this sounds cliche in the Technology World, however this simple task will help temporarily disrupt the malware and potentially help identify devices that have been infected.
- Secure the device with a strong, unique, new password. Be sure to include numbers and symbols as these are harder for cyber-thieves to guess.
- Upgrade your firmware to the latest available version offered by your router’s manufacturer.
- If you want to be sure that you are doing all you can to combat cyber threats, you may want to arm yourself with American Broadband’s top of the line security suite called Tech Home. Tech Home is designed to defend against an array of cyber threats and malware. Tech Home automatically updates every 10 minutes in order to stay ahead of the latest malware threats and new viruses.
